Quote:
a something everywhere which casts the beam of light
out of its straight line so that we see rather the appearance than the reality of truth.

amen...I see the 'something everywhere' as sticks and logs...and all the timber used to build mens religious moats...
Spurgeon, the 'Prince of Preachers' was rejected in his day because he smoked...Christ, the 'Prince of Peace' was rejected because he drank wine, and further...dared to be seen drinking with the sinful dregs and outcasts of society......ah...others are rejected because of meats...as the crazy prophet who ate only *unhealthy* bugs and had wild honey dripping off his bearded chin....or his attire (or lack thereof) of camels hair...it simply wont do for a man of God to be looking that away...even more are rejected because they dont shave their face...or because of painted flesh... motes of men...they wont lower the mote to allow any into the kingdom ...unless they "appear" to be as righteous as themselves...
Mat 23:13 "How terrible for you, teachers of the Law and Religious men! You hypocrites!
You lock the door to the Kingdom of heaven in people's faces, but you yourselves don't go in, nor do you allow in those who are trying to enter!
Mat 23:27 "How terrible for you, teachers of the Law and Religious men! You hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look fine on the outside but are full of bones and decaying corpses on the inside. In the same way, on the outside
you appear good to everybody, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and sins.
Ah ~ but LOOK, see the STONE that builds a bridge, that 'whosoever will' may cross over into HIS kingdom...all glory to my God and Saviour! How I look forward to the day when "I shall be accepted as He has accepted me!"
Luke 20:17 But Jesus looked directly at them and said, "What then is this that is written:
"'The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone'? Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him."
Luke 20:19 The scribes and the chief priests sought to lay hands on him at that very hour, for they perceived that he had told this parable against them, but they feared the people. So they watched him and sent spies, who pretended to be sincere, that they might catch him in something he said, so as to deliver him up to the authority...
Delivering THE AUTHORITY up to the authority...imagine that ...and we think something so blinding as bias God winks at...
Act 17:29 Being then God's offspring, we ought not to think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of man.
The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead."
Luke 6:41 "Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but pay no attention to the log in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Please, brother, let me take that speck out of your eye,' yet cannot even see the log in your own eye? You hypocrite! First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will be able to see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.
A healthy tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a poor tree bear good fruit. Every tree is known by the fruit it bears; you do not pick figs from thorn bushes or gather grapes from bramble bushes. A good person brings good out of the treasure of good things in his heart; a bad person brings bad out of his treasure of bad things. For the mouth speaks what
the heart is full of.
"Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and yet don't do what I tell you?
John 7:24
"Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment."
